Whilst staring out over the water from your Noosa Pacific apartment or lazing on our beach and jetty are admirable past times whilst on holiday here, when a performance festival like Noosa alive! comes along, getting out to an event is an absolute must. Held over the last ten days in July, this is one of Noosa’s best festivals for one reason: it has something for absolutely everyone!
In essence, the Noosa alive! Festival is an eclectic performance art exhibition, but don’t worry, it won’t be all strange sounds and weird costume, far from it! Rather, this is a collection of international and local acts of the highest calibre, ranging from children’s performers, to jazz greats, opera and mainstream music, as well as theatre, comedy, art and (our favourite) food and wine. Perhaps most exciting of all are the venues: under the marquee on Main Beach with your feet in the sand, in the Noosa Woods, overlooking the hinterland from Noosa Springs Golf Course, at the intimate Noosa Theatre or The J just to name a few. Noosa alive! Festival is about the performers, but it also showcases the wonderful Noosa area, and that’s well worth getting off the sun lounge for.
Tickets sell fast, so it’s important to book your preferred events well in advance. You could be listening to James Morrison bang out some jazz greats, eat a three course meal while watching the film ‘Delicious’, get lost in the magic of live theatre with a David Williamson play, tap your toes to Paul Kelly, be inspired by talks from authors or marvel at the feats of ballerinas on stage. For those with young children, there’s even a concert in the park by The Beanies. For those with big kids, the Seaside Vibes on the beach featuring Tijuana Cartel pumping out the house beats, might be more their style.
And what if you can’t get tickets to the experience you think you’ll love best? Get out of your comfort zone and try something new! At the very least, it will fall into that ‘Remember That Time We Went to That Concert And…’ category of wonderful holiday memories! Truly though, just getting out and walking around Hastings St and Gympie Terrace between 21-31 July will give you a delightful festival buzz all on its own. Don’t delay- book your tickets (and Noosa Pacific accommodation) now.
