So, you’ve managed to find your way 15km down the coast to Peregian Beach. What now? You could try some of the gorgeous restaurants in the Peregian Village, but sometimes all you want is a relaxed bite to eat stretched out on the grass. And if you’ve got the family with you, having a large space to move and meals that won’t blow the entire budget on one lunch can be imperative. It’s a well-known locals’ secret that Peregian offers the best of both worlds!
On the beach front is the Peregian Park, a long stretch of grass with a skatepark at one end, fabulous playgrounds in the middle, a patrolled beach 20 metres to the east and lots and lots of space. There are shelter sheds for those who don’t like sitting on the ground, and free barbecues for those who like to cook. But honestly, with the kind of deliciousness waiting to be taken away from the cafes and shops just over the road, there’s absolutely no reason to bring the tongs along! Choose from a large range of cuisines, menus and budgets. Here are the Noosa Pacific team’s favourites:
Le Bon Delice French Patisserie
Really, do we need an interpreter? Everything in this little tucked away gem is absolutely delicious. Packed full of all the good French things cooked in all the good French ways, just scatter gun your finger at the cabinet and know you’ll be feasting on buttery croissants of every kind and crunchy chewy baguettes. Cheesy Quiche Lorraine, chocolatey works of art and seriously good coffee… it’s all here. Perfect for breakfast.
Skål Coffee
Directly opposite the park is Skål Coffee, a place where every good, organic, non-toxic thing you could possibly lay on a bamboo fork or drink from an eco-cup resides. This excellent café isn’t just about coffee though, with a great range of salads, raw treats, juices, fruit, vegetables and pantry items all available for a fabulous picnic, or perhaps even dinner in your Noosa Pacific apartment later. This is a one stop lunch and breakfast shop for those who value great food that’s good for you.
Back over near Le Bon Delice is Sushi Wave. This little kitchen churns out Noosa’s best Japanese fare, from the uber healthy brown rice sushi rolls to all the usual suspects we know and love… katsu don, teriyaki, gyoza and absolutely delicious nori rolls. Expect to line up with the locals (don’t worry, it moves fast) for a clean feast everyone will love.
After a burger, a veggie wrap with every conceivable type of healthy salad and sauce… oh, and a ham and cheese toastie? Plus a smoothie? Juice? Cake too? Raw Energy is another one stop shop handling just about every tastebud known to man, woman and child with health driven meals and drinks. The menu is extensive and everything is available takeaway. Best for breakfast and lunch.
Another local’s secret, the Peregian Beach Hotel doesn’t just offer an excellent vantage point to watch the passing traffic parade, but an excellent menu available for takeaway. Yes, even the drinks. Great pizza, the usual hotel favourites like chicken parmies, fish and chips and all the burgers, along with a few gourmet surprises (wok flamed don buri bowl anyone?) are all served on the takeaway menu… and it is very, very good. The kids’ menu is fabulous too. Wander to the well-stocked drive through for a refreshing bottle of something to wash it all down with. This is best for lunch or a twilight dinner.
All the palates, energy levels and relaxing states of mind are catered for in Peregian, and a picnic in the park is one of the best ways to experience this special village. Want more recommendations? Ask our Noosa Pacific team for their favourite Peregian eats!
